Assent
al-taṣdīq
التَّصْدِيق
Assent (taṣdīq) is judging that a relation holds or does not hold, such as judging that every human is an animal.
Draft · awaiting reviewExplanation
Assent goes beyond conception: it affirms or denies something of something, and so it can be true or false.
An unknown assent is reached through argument (al-ḥujja), above all the syllogism. That is why the second part of logic, the assents (al-taṣdīqāt), covers propositions and argument.
Also written as: tasdiq, tasdiqat, taṣdīqāt, assent, judgement.
